Seals To Eels on Scooter Wheels
Get ready for an exciting adventure while supporting a great cause at the Seals to Eels charity event on Saturday, March 25th, 2023. This scooter and moped rally spans over 140 km from Nelson to St Arnaud and the Nelson Lakes district through Tapawera and Motueka.
The ride commences at 8.30am, so make sure to arrive early and meet at the Tahunanui Playground Carpark. To participate in the Seals to Eels rally, there is an entry fee of $50 for an individual or $500 for a team. All proceeds go to the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust, a non-profit organization that has been in operation for over 30 years. They provide critical care and transportation to over 450 patients each year, including emergency rescue, medical transfers, and search and rescue missions.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter is staffed by a team of highly trained professionals who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of those in need. The Seals to Eels rally is a great opportunity to support this worthy cause while also exploring some of New Zealand’s beautiful scenery and charming towns.
Along the route, fuel stops will be available in Tapawera, St Arnaud, and Wakefield, so there’s no need to carry extra fuel. However, please note that we take no responsibility for holding people’s hands – essentially, you’re on your own if something breaks down and you miss the bus!
The Seals to Eels rally is open to anyone with a 50cc motor scooter max – if you need a license to ride it, it’s probably too big. But don’t worry about sticking to a plain old bike – you are encouraged to dress up and make it a fun day out!
Tapawera is a small town in the Tasman region known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor activities. Motueka, located at the mouth of the Motueka River, is a bustling town with a vibrant arts and culture scene. And of course, St Arnaud and the Nelson Lakes district are known for their stunning natural beauty, with crystal clear lakes, snow-capped mountains, and endless hiking trails.
