About Me

Don't even attempt the travel goals I have set out in this manifesto. You will never be able to match me no matter how driven you are. These goals are too insane, too ridiculous, too extreme for anyone else to ever replicate what I will accomplish by the year 2016. I have 8000 places visited and under 1000 to go.

Become the winningest high school coach in Tennessee history

Achievement description

It's only a matter of time before I accomplish this one. I say this not with arrogance or a feeling of superiority. There are better coaches out there. But it is with perseverance, longevity and unprecedented involvement in athletics that I will achieve the unimaginable 2000-victory milestone. I've either coached it, announced it, or played it. I've made a career out of coaching soccer and track and field to supplement my income as a high school teacher. I've spent years coaching ice hockey, had a stint with basketball and even 2 bowling matches when the head coach went into surgery. I've announced football, basketball and volleyball games for a decade at my high school of employment. About the only thing I haven't dabbled in is baseball and softball (I'm already coaching boys soccer and track simultaneously). Even spent time as Athletic Director while coaching 5 sports. Now that's an accomplishment. I've been fortunate enough to have sensational athletes who have taken us to numerous visits to the Tennessee Sweet 16 in girls and boys soccer and was blessed with the #1 track team in the state back-to-back years. With the 775-victory mark achieved by the age of 37, 1000 is easily accessible (but rarely reached by high school coaches) and 2000 will come with patience. The key? Starting young, coaching everything they'll let you coach and staying the course. That's what I'm all about. So this goal isn't quite complete, but the accomplishment of coaching 7 sports in a career and announcing for 7 others is unmatched in Tennessee, probably in America.
